After completing his primary studies at Dharmadutha College, Badulla, Rukmal pursued professional modeling at NICK J Academy in 2015. His talent and dedication led him to success in the fashion industry, earning a diploma from the Asian Academy of Commercial Studies in 2017. That same year, he represented Sri Lanka as Mr. Sri Lanka at the Global Youth Ambassador contest in the Philippines, securing 2nd runner-up and three international mini-titles, including Best in Talent, against 50 countries.
